- Nurse Stone would also like to know if your child has received the COVID vaccine. Please contact her if your child has.
- If you have questions about what is going on in a classroom, please reach out to the teacher directly first. If there is a problem that needs a resolution and the teacher isn't able to resolve it, please contact administration (our information is above).
- Remember that our doors will open at 8:30. As the weather continues to be frigid, please ensure your children do not come too early to freeze outside.
- Extended Day Programs will begin shortly. Your child's teacher will be reaching out.

Bookmobile Out of Service for the Moment
- Please be advised that the Bookmobile has paused it's visit to Cordero in order to complete repairs. We will reach out when it returns.
Vigilance with Technology
- Please be advised that cell phone and social media use is prohibited during the school day and is further supported by the Jersey City Public Schools Code of Conduct. Improper use of technology is an offense that can lead to suspension and can carry criminal consequences. Please talk to your child regarding their use of their phones and social media and monitor it regularly. Below are some articles discussing serious issues and consequences as well as helpful hints that can be helpful for your knowledge. Kids Health Article | NY Times Article | WPIX Story
- Mr. Stanton and Mr. Cabrera had to have a frank discussion with the middle school regarding consequences of sending inappropriate material to others. There are criminal consequences to such actions. They also discussed the AirDrop function and shutting down that option. Please discuss this with your children who have iPhones or other Apple products, they should not set themselves up to receive unwanted items via AirDrop. One such step is turning off Bluetooth and changing AirDrop Permissions to "Receiving Off." If you need further help, please review AirDrop functions on Apple's website.
Revisiting the Use of Plastic Barriers in Our Classrooms
The time has probably come to take down the plastic barriers that are on students' desks. Certainly, when less was known about the spread of coronavirus these dividers seemed like a plausible solution. Now that we know there is not enough scientific data to support their effectiveness, it's probably time to reevaluate. Many of our students are having difficulty seeing through the hazy and worn film causing obstruction to the learning. We would like to have the students take them down so that they can see the smartboards more clearly. Every student is masked which is helping us to mitigate the spread of the virus. If you would like for the barrier to remain on your child's desk, please reach out to their teacher. Thank you for your understanding.
Student Address Verification
Please review your the note below from Interim Superintendent Dr. Fernandez.
"As noted below, "In accordance with the applicable State statutes, regulations and JCBOE Policy Nos. 5111 & 5118, the JCBOE is vested with the authority to determine that a student is not entitled to a free education in the District and, consequently, to remove the student from any of the District’s schools,
including the District’s Early Childhood child care providers.
In addition, please be advised further that a determination that a student was not eligible to a free education from the Jersey City Public Schools may result in a parent being assessed tuition for the entire period of time the student was ineligible. This assessment may span multiple school years."
